What is club ice?  –  Several times a year the club reserves ice time.  Sessions have alternated between being used for additional practice time and fun sessions.

How much does ice time cost?  – Club ice sessions are $12 for club members.

Do we have to attend all club events?  – No, you can attend the club events that are most interesting to you.  Our social chairs work to provide a wide range of events throughout the year.

Can skaters join if they are not interested in competing/testing? – Yes, we have skaters who are interested in advancing through the USFS test levels but not interested in competing.  There are other skaters who are interested in exhibitions but not competing.  All are welcome!

Is there an age limit on joining?  There are no minimum or maximum age limits on joining the club.

Do you have to join JVFSC to compete or participate in exhibitions?  You do not have to be a member of a figure skating club to compete or participate in exhibitions.  In order to participate in USFS testing you need to be a club member or an independent member of USFS. Members of Aspire can complete the first test level in each discipline before needing a full membership.

What are the service hour requirements for JVFSC?  Each club member or family unit completes 10 service hours a year.  This can include helping at test sessions, club ice sessions, competition and social events.  There is also a service hour buyout option.

I paid for service hours.  How soon will I see those in EntryEeze?   It may take up to 24 hours for service hour purchases to be updated in EntryEeze.

What is ASPIRE?  Do I need to be part of JVFSC to participate?   Aspire refers to both a program and a membership type.  The Aspire program incorporates off ice training, on ice training and parent education.  The Aspire membership serves as a bridge between Learn to Skate membership ($18.50 a year) and full JVFSC membership.  Skaters who have had an Aspire membership are not eligible for an introductory membership to JVFSC.
